Websites that have embossed their signatures or IDs on Kwabena Kwabena’s songs should get ready to face the music.
According to Kwabena Kwabena, it is wrong for any portals to market their brands on a song he has recorded.
Mike 2, the host of Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall, after playing Kwabena’s ‘Fingers’ on Saturday, July 9, 2022, asked if he was worried about the ID of a portal on the song.
Kwabena in his response said the song was downloaded from a wrong website.
“This is the first time I am hearing such an ID on my song. We will take it on because it is wrong for them to advertise their websites on my song,” he noted.

The practice of portals placing their signature sweepers and jingles on songs they upload, is not a new practice.
While some have spoken against the practice as something that mars the beauty of the songs, and infringe on the right of the music owners, others also think fighting it may affect the musician. They think the more the portals push the songs, the more traction they get.
But in this age of musicians monitising their songs online, is it still advisable to entertain portals that upload songs for free, let alone put their IDs on them?
