Kwabena Derrick Diddy, the manager of Ghanaian Afrobeats star, Kelvynboy, has spoken about how an abuse story on his artiste affected him.
Speaking in a MUSE Africa Twitter spaces conversation monitored by ghanaweekend.com on August 26, 2022, Diddy said a news report about Kelvynboy abusing his baby mama caused him “plenty” deals.
He said it affected a publishing deal they were finalizing.
According to him, the lawyers of the firm got back to them to complain about the abuse stories they had seen about Kelvynboy online.
“… the whole baby mama drama that came up with Kelvyn. Bro, those stories were lies from the pit of hell. Which normal human being go pick an iron rod and beat a woman? And the sad part be say those pictures that were circulating to be the baby mama were downloaded pictures. The woman is fairer [in complexion] than that,” he said.

He also added that sometimes he is tempted to think that some bloggers are paid to put out fake stories.
“We were at the verge of signing a publish deal worth billions, bro. Because ‘Down Flat’ was doing good and people were interested – UK, all the way, bro.
Diddy stated that the deal did not go through, owing to how people in the UK frown on domestic abuse.
“Before we realized this story dey everywhere and then calls started coming in. Their lawyers started contacting as about the stories. And they were not ready to even hear our side of the story,” Diddy added.
In February, 2022 the Ghana News Agency reported that the ‘Down Flat’ singer had been arrested and dragged to court for assaulting the mother of his kids, Deborah.
He was later reported to have been granted bail after court proceedings.
Diddy did not deny the court reportage but noted that most of the allegations that were made against Kelvynboy on social media regarding the assault against the mother of his children, were false.
He therefore called on the media particularly bloggers to be careful about what they publish about artistes.
Kelvynboy recently wrapped up with his world tour.
His ‘Down Flat’ is one of the songs that have gained a lot of patronage on both the local and international music scene.
