Ghanaian stand-up has gained a lot of respect and value in recent times.
This is unlike about 15 years ago when some young comedians decided to chart this path.
In the wake of the glory, entertainment panelist Sally Frimpong Mann has said on Hitz FM that Ghanaian comedian DKB cannot be taken out of the equation when this feat for Ghanaian comedy is being celebrated.
On Hitz FM’s ‘Daybreak Hitz’ on Friday, October 6, 2022, also gave DKB a pat on the back and urged Ghanaian comedians to respect him.
“I think comedians should respect DKB for holding them down. He pulled all the comedians up. Sometimes, he will use his own money to support shows when sponsors do not come. He has sacrificed himself,” Sally said.
Other tweeps who listened to the show also shared a similar opinion.

For the past few years, Ghanaian stand-up comedians including OB Amponsah, Foster Romanus, Lekzy, Jacinta, and others have been putting up comedy shows at bigger auditoriums. This is something that could hardly be achieved about 10 years ago when most Ghanaians wrote off Ghanaian comedians.
At a time when stand-up comedians were described as “not funny” and were therefore not considered for shows, it took the likes of David Oscar, DKB, Foster Romanus, Aglah, Khemikal and co to change the narrative.
While some of DKB’s contemporaries pulled the reins on their comedy trade to attend to other fields of interest, DKB kept his mojo up and proved to the world Ghanaian comedians were good.

After years of having organised many comedy shows in the country? DKB also runs an annual comedy show called New Year Comedy Show.
