One of the sons of Nana Kwame Ampadu, Kwabena Amoah Ampadu has revealed that his late father wrote a lot of movie scripts.
He told Citi TV in an interview that the late highlife musician was multi-talented, and that one of his talents was writing scripts for movies.
Nana Ampadu wrote his first major script ‘Abaawa Mary’ in 1988, and later wrote several others for Danfo BA Movie Productions.
“My father was not just a musician. He wrote a lot of stories. He wrote stories for about 26 movies,” Ampadu’s seventh son, Kwabena Amoah told Citi TV.
“I can say that my father wrote about 80% of stories for the movies Danfo BA produced,” he added.
In 2017, he played the role of a pastor in ‘Life and Trials’, a movie that depicts the real life of a young couple who were hit by issues surrounding their marriage and work.
Nana Ampadu is known to have composed over 800 songs.
According to Kwabena Ampadu, his father wrote choruses for about 300 songs before he died. He also wrote rap verses and asked his children to develop them into songs.
At the moment, Kwabena Amoah Ampadu is the leader of his father’s African Brothers Band.
The legendary highlife musician Nana Kwame Ampadu passed away on September 28, 2021.
