Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has explained why he declined to perform at Onua Festival Train Beach Rave concert at the 2022 Hogbetsotso Festival on November 5, 2022.
In a Facebook Live video, the dancehall artiste explained that the organiser breached an agreement they had.
According to him, they agreed that he would not contact any radio interviews upon arrival in the Volta Region.
However, he said the organisers wanted him to do a radio interview when they had not even been taken to his hotel room.
He said when he was told he would not be allowed into the hotel room if he did not conduct the interview, he got angry and decided to return to Accra.

“Shatta Wale, who had been billed to perform as headline artiste and had agreed to do so, having signed a contract with the marketers of Ebony Condoms and subsequently appeared on Onua Maakye with Captain Smart to confirm his participation at the event was not available to perform,” the organizers said in an earlier statement.
“It is interesting to note that Shatta Wale had shown up at the venue of the concert in vehicles rented for him and his team by the organisers yet could not be found afterwards. All efforts by the two management teams to get him to come to the concert grounds to perform to the waiting crowd proved futile,” they added.
In the meantime, ghanaweekend.com sources say contrary to Shatta Wale’s claims, he agreed with the organisers to do 6 interviews for the Hogbe Beach Rave.
The sources explain that he was supposed to do 4 interviews on 4 Media General networks and 2 in the Volta Region.
Grapevine information indicates some influential stakeholders in the industry are speaking to Shatta Wale to apologise to the organisers and refund the money he took for the concert to the media company that brokered the deal on behalf of Ebony Condoms.
