With a career stretching over more than a decade, multiple award-winning Dancehall artiste , Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale has not only made his mark in music ,but has debossed himself in history as a force to be reckoned with.
With a catalog of more than two[2] albums and over 2,000 songs, the song that revamped the career of the celebrated dancehall artiste happens to be ‘Dancehall King”.
“Dancehall King’ which was produced by Shatta Wale, was the biggest song in 2014. In fact, the song caught the public domain like conflagration.
Coincidentally, it was the same song that pronostigated a long feud between Shatta Wale, dancehall songstress Kaaki and the organizers of the VGMAs, Charterhouse.
The feud started when the song won Reggae/Dancehall song of the year at the 2014 VGMA where Shatta Wale thought he should’ve rather been crowned with the best dancehall artiste of Year.
‘Dancehall King ‘ music video directed by Ezekiel Tetteh better known as STIP also created a lot of controversy in that same year.
However, on Sunday ,May 21,2023, popular entertainment pundit and artiste manager, Mr Logic signed two afro-dancehall artistes, Mo Spence and Tipgy Hiriim unto his Red Panther record label.
The 5-year recording and management deal was signed at a press announcement held at the Marriott Hotel in Accra on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Speaking to the media at the event, Mr Logic, while confirming that STIP will be directing the music videos of his signed artists, said the ‘Dancehall King ‘ music video only cost Ghc1000.
According to Mr Logic who was the manager of Shatta Wale when the ‘Dancehall King ‘ music video was shot, STIP directed the video extremely well hence the decision to give him the deal to shoot Mo and Tipgy’s videos.
