Ghana’s multiple award-winning rapper, Sarkodie, has recently voiced his concern over the ‘dumsor’ crisis affecting the Tema General Hospital, where power outages have put the lives of babies at risk. However, his comment has stirred mixed reactions among fans.

In a viral video circulating online, a nurse at the hospital captured the dire situation caused by the power cuts, highlighting the dangers posed to infants in incubators.

Taking to his Instagram story, Sarkodie shared his dismay, emphasizing the need for better prioritization to prevent such incidents. “The Impact when we misplace priorities. we pray for these innocent babies,” he wrote.

While many applauded Sarkodie for speaking out on the issue, some social media users expressed disappointment, believing that the rapper could do more than just sharing a comment on his Instastory.

This controversy arises amidst reports of Sarkodie working on new music, including tracks titled ‘Dumsor,’ ‘Inflation,’ and ‘The Masses,’ which are said to address the ‘dumsor’ crisis and economic challenges during the NDC’s governance from 2012 to 2016.

Interestingly, Sarkodie’s past involvement in politics also resurfaces, notably his decision to release ‘Happy Day’ in the lead-up to the 2016 general election. The song stirred controversy as it appeared to endorse Nana Addo, the eventual winner of the election, diverging from his earlier stance against the NDC.

As debates continue to unfold on social media, Sarkodie’s commentary on the ‘dumsor’ situation at the Tema General Hospital remains a focal point, reigniting discussions on social responsibility and the role of celebrities in addressing societal issues.
