However, amidst the fervor surrounding the song’s debut, a storm of controversy has brewed. A video circulating on social media alleges that Kuami Eugene may have appropriated the song without proper authorization. The footage features an individual asserting that the song rightfully belongs to fellow artiste Kwame Yogot, who had intended its release.
In the video, the individual shows the alleged original version of the song, featuring contributions from both artists, with Kuami Eugene’s rendition. It’s claimed that Kuami Eugene excluded Kwame Yogot’s verse from the final version of “Canopy,” leading to accusations of theft against the celebrated musician.
All attempts to reach Kuami Eugene and Kwame Yogot to ascertain the truth have so far proven unproductive .
