The final line-up for December in GH 2024 has officially been revealed. Spearheaded by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with Beyond the Return Secretariat, this year’s calendar is packed with exciting events that promise to light up the entire country.

Since its launch in 2019 as part of the landmark ‘Year of Return’, December in GH has evolved into the heartbeat of Ghana’s cultural and tourism scene, attracting locals and visitors from across the world who are eager to experience our vibrant heritage, arts, and entertainment.

This year’s festive calendar has an incredible variety of activities designed to provide a true taste of Ghanaian culture while fostering connections with local communities during this special season.

Thanks to the incredible teamwork between the Ghana Tourism Authority and event organizers, December in GH continues to reach new heights of excitement.

According to the CEO, Akwasi Agyeman, “Each event is an opportunity for collaboration, inspiration, and connection as we celebrate our rich and diverse Ghanaian culture amongst us and with the rest of the world. These events set the stage for an even more impactful year ahead.”

According to the 2023 Tourism Report, visitor numbers more than doubled in 2022, showcasing an impressive 47% growth. And it didn’t stop there—2023 welcomed 1,148,002 arrivals, reflecting a 25% rise from the previous year and surpassing pre-COVID figures by 2%. This signals a thrilling recovery for Ghana’s tourism sector.

The Ghana Tourism Authority is targeting 1.3million visitors this year.

The festivities of December in GH not only elevate the tourism experience but also create a ripple effect of positive economic impact, especially for our Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

These vibrant events bolster demand for everything from hotel rooms to restaurant meals, event equipment and services, and local artisan goods, benefiting our small business owners, creatives, and communities.

Beyond just economic growth, December in GH plays a vital role in celebrating and preserving Ghana’s rich culture.
