Renowned Ghanaian photographer Steve Ababio has been laid to rest.
The funeral service, held at the Qodesh Chapel, was attended by several dignitaries, including Eric Kofi Buckman, CEO of Buck Press Ltd, Samuel Attah-Mensah, MD of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway, Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, and Mr. Kwamena Asomaning, CEO of Stanbic Bank.
Ababio, who passed away on December 29, 2024, was a seasoned adventure travel and destination photographer. He was the CEO of Steve Ababio Photography Inc., which he founded in 2003. With a passion for showcasing Africa’s beauty, Ababio’s work was highly regarded, and he was often listed among Ghana’s top photojournalists.
Ababio’s photography journey began in 2002, and he gradually shifted his focus from wedding photography to corporate and commercial work. His thorough approach to photography involved serious analysis of his subjects before capturing their stories.
The reception after the funeral service was held at the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon.
Other dignitaries who attended the funeral included Mrs. Essilfuah Tamakloe of ABSA Bank, Mr. Antonio Kisseih, Vice President of the Ghana Securities Industry Association and MD of Sentinel Asset Management, Air Commodore David Akrong, Deputy Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre, Mustapha Hamid, former CEO of NPA, and Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, Deputy Minister-designate for Works and Housing.
Ababio’s burial service was private. He is survived by his wife and four children. Ababio’s legacy in Ghana’s photography industry will undoubtedly be remembered, and his contributions to showcasing Africa’s beauty will continue to inspire future generations.
