Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Kafui Danku has been named the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA).
With a strong background in the creative arts, tourism, and economic development, Kafui Danku brings extensive experience to the role. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Classics from the University of Cape Coast and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the University of Ghana.
Since 2008, she has worked as an actress and filmmaker, later becoming an executive producer at ABC Pictures Limited in 2013. She also has experience in humanitarian work, having served as a Repatriation Assistant with the UNHCR.
Beyond filmmaking, Kafui Danku is known for her advocacy work. She launched the Silence Is Not Golden campaign to encourage women to speak out, has campaigned against child marriage, and supports children affected by Kwashiorkor. Her efforts earned her recognition from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) for advancing women’s roles in politics, peace, and economic development.
She has received multiple awards, including Tourism Personality of the Year 2024 and Most Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur’s Rising. She also mentors young entrepreneurs through the Dream Achievers Project and has represented Ghana at international conferences such as the UN Summit of the Future 2024 and the Women Empowerment Summit.
As CEO of the NFA, Danku aims to strengthen the creative arts industry, promote cultural preservation, and enhance the sector’s contribution to Ghana’s economy.
