High Court warns Lil Win over delay in GH₵5m defamation case

Ghanaian actor Lil Win has received a final warning from the Accra High Court for allegedly stalling the resolution of a GH₵5 million defamation lawsuit filed by actress Martha Ankomah.

The court’s caution comes after the actor reportedly failed to appear on April 1, 2025, to sign agreed settlement terms—a key step in resolving the high-profile case.

Reports by GHOneTV indicate that the Kumawood star, born Kwadwo Nkansah, had been directed by the court to present a formal apology to Ankomah for approval during the April 1 sitting.

However, his absence sparked concern and has now led to a stern warning from the judge overseeing the matter.

The case dates back to a video Lil Win published over a year ago, in which he made defamatory comments about Ankomah. Though he later issued an apology, the actress rejected it, asserting that the remarks had damaged her reputation.

She subsequently filed a defamation suit on February 14, 2024, seeking GHS₵5 million in damages and other reliefs.

Since then, the court has been working with both parties and their legal teams to reach an amicable resolution. Following a hearing on February 25, 2025, proceedings were adjourned to allow time for finalising settlement terms, with Lil Win expected to comply by April 1.

Details of the court’s final warning emerged on April 15, coinciding with the actor’s 38th birthday, and quickly spread across social media. As of now, Lil Win has not publicly responded to the court’s directive.

Meanwhile, Martha Ankomah has reaffirmed her commitment to pursuing justice, insisting her motive goes beyond monetary compensation.

“I don’t want a dime from him. I want him to do the right thing so people will know that you just can’t do things and get away with it in this country,” she said in a recent interview with Nhyira FM.
