The Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the successful acquisition of visas for Suzy Adwoa Pinamang and two caretakers for a medical trip to the United Kingdom.
The trip is fully sponsored by philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama. Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang is a second-year student at Bantama Adventist Senior High School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
On April 4, 2025, she was tragically shot in the eye by a classmate, Bernard Amoabeng, during a break time incident involving a firearm brought to school. The gunshot wound to her eye resulted in permanent blindness, leaving her in severe pain and requiring specialised medical treatment.
In a statement released today, Minister Ablakwa also directed the Ghana High Commission in the UK to provide special consular services to the family upon their arrival, ensuring seamless support for their medical treatment abroad.
This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to facilitating critical healthcare access for Ghanaians, bolstered by private-sector generosity. Further details on the trip and treatment arrangements are yet to be disclosed.
I am able to announce that the UK visas for Suzy Adwoa Pinamang and two caregivers accompanying her on her medical trip have been secured.
I have also instructed the Ghana High Commission in the UK to extend special consular privileges when she arrives in the UK.
I wish to…
