The funeral of the late Mamponghene, a highly respected traditional ruler, which took place on June 7, 2025, took an unexpected turn when a member of Cheddar’s security detail sprang into action to confront an intruder.
Business magnate and political figure Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar and by his traditional title Nana Bediako, made a dignified appearance at the event to mourn with the Ashanti royal family.
However, moments after his arrival, the atmosphere briefly shifted from solemnity to commotion.
According to eyewitnesses and a video widely seen on social media, an unidentified man attempted to merge unnoticed with Cheddar’s entourage in an apparent effort to bypass security.
The sharp-eyed bodyguard, however, was quick to detect the ruse. What followed was a swift and unexpected response: a forceful headbutt delivered to the chest of the intruder, who immediately reeled from the impact.
The blow reportedly caused the man to clutch his chest and stagger to the ground, grimacing in pain with a noticeably altered facial expression.
Some attendees gasped, while others moved to restrain further escalation, allowing calm to be quickly restored.
Though Cheddar himself maintained composure throughout the incident, it seemed he didn’t even notice, and proceeded with the ceremony.
