Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has lauded Roselyn Akosua Mantey for her remarkable achievement in setting a Guinness World Record for the longest makeup application marathon—103 hours, 25 minutes, and 33 seconds.
Speaking during a courtesy visit at the Ministry in Accra on Wednesday June 25, the Minister emphasised “We will celebrate your achievement wherever possible,” calling on Prof. Kobby Mensah of the Ghana Tourism Development Company to consider Mantey as an ambassador for the creative sector.
She further noted the vital link between tourism, culture, and the creative arts in national development.
Mantey, who won TV3’s Mentor in 2013 and has worked as a makeup artist for nine years, presented her official Guinness World Record certificate to the Minister during the visit.
She expressed her passion for vocational training and youth empowerment. “Having a skill is very important,” she said. “I’ve trained over a thousand students and am currently teaching 50 young women makeup artistry.”
“This record is not just about recognition but about showing the youth that skills can lead to independence and economic growth,” she added.
Through her initiative, Agenda Get a Skill, Mantey is offering free makeup training across Ghana, aiming to equip young women with practical skills and reduce unemployment.
The event not only celebrated her record-breaking feat—achieved from April 3 to 7, 2024, at Legon City Mall—but also reinforced the government’s commitment to recognising and supporting individuals contributing to Ghana’s creative economy.
