Lawyers of Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty have issued a formal notice to former fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, demanding a public apology and retraction over comments deemed defamatory.
The demand, contained in a letter signed by Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi of Tawiah-Amprofi & Associates, follows a viral video in which Agradaa allegedly mocked Empress Gifty’s lawyer, referring to him as a “so-called lawyer” after their initial court appearance.
According to the letter, Agradaa’s remarks not only questioned the lawyer’s professional standing but also included abusive language.
“Your reference to him as a ‘so-called lawyer’ is derogatory and defamatory to both his person and this law firm,” the statement read. It demanded that Agradaa issue a public apology and retract the statement using the same platform within seven days of receiving the notice.
The legal team warned that failure to comply would result in court action.
“Please take notice that if you fail to retract and apologise as indicated above within seven days, we shall initiate legal proceedings against you,” the letter concluded.
This follows the Tema High Court’s dismissal of Agradaa’s motion to strike out the GH¢20 million lawsuit. The court fined Agradaa GH¢6,000 for delays caused by her counsel’s failure to appear at an earlier hearing.
The suit, filed in May 2025, accuses Agradaa of defamation following a livestream in which she allegedly made false and damaging claims about Empress Gifty. The gospel artiste is seeking GH¢20 million in damages, a permanent injunction to prevent further defamatory publications, and the removal of all related content from social media.
The next hearing has been scheduled for July 16, 2025.
