DopeNation accuses Kuami Eugene of stirring media controversy to promote album

DopeNation has accused Kuami Eugene of orchestrating a media controversy against them  to boost his album promotion, claiming he misrepresented their departure from Lynx Entertainment in a calculated interview.

DopeNation is Ghanaian musical duo of identical twin brothers, composed of Micheal Boafo popularly known as B2, and Tony Boafo known as Twist.

In an interview on  3Music Culture Vibe, DopeNation alleged that Kuami Eugene discussed their exit from Lynx Entertainment during an interview, framing it to generate buzz for his own album release.

They stated that their only conversation about leaving the label was with Richie Mensah, not Kuami Eugene, suggesting his comments were strategic rather than spontaneous.

The duo criticised Eugene for portraying their departure as if they hadn’t worked hard, despite Dope Nation delivering hits like “Zanku” and “Confam” during their tenure.

DopeNation described their time at Lynx Entertainment as challenging, marked by tensions and perceived disrespect from certain industry figures, including Kuami Eugene. They characterised him as an “industry asshole” whose behaviour was tolerated due to his prominence.

The duo noted that after leaving the label after nine months to a year, they faced negative headlines, which they believe were fueled by Eugene’s interview. This added to the friction, limiting their ability to pursue collaborations and focus on their music.

Dope Nation emphasised their efforts to part ways amicably, avoiding public disputes despite the media storm. They highlighted the broader impact of the controversy, including strained relationships and missed opportunities.
