Following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including prominent government officials, several Ghanaian celebrities have taken to social media to express their grief and condolences.

The crash, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, has been described as one of the darkest days in Ghana.

Among the deceased were Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and other six high-profile figures.

Award-winning dancehall artiste Stonebwoy shared a somber tweet, writing:
“Fly away home 💔🕊️ diligent servants of mother Ghana 🇬🇭 Minister for Environment Science & Tech. Minister For Defence. Former Ashanti Regional Minister. The Pilots and other members involved in this gory crash. 😭 #blackWednesday”

Entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, issued a detailed and emotional tribute on his official social media pages.

“Today is a Black Wednesday in the heart of Ghana,” his statement began.
He described the incident as a national tragedy, not a political one, and offered support to the bereaved families and President John Dramani Mahama.
“Ghana has lost more than lives — we have lost leaders, servants, and patriots… This tragedy is not partisan, it is national. It is not political, it is human.”

Today is a Black Wednesday in the heart of Ghana.

With profound sadness and an aching heart, I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to the families of those who perished in the tragic plane crash that has shaken our nation.

Ghana has lost more than lives,we have lost…

— Nana Kwame Bediako (@OsagyefoNKB) August 6, 2025

He called for unity, strengthened protection systems, and a national reflection on leadership and public service, concluding with a powerful call:
“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. May God console the bereaved. And may He guide this nation through every storm.”

The outpouring of grief from public figures reflects the depth of the loss felt across Ghana, as the nation mourns the death of key leaders who dedicated their lives to public service.

Further updates are expected as investigations continue into the cause of the crash and families are officially informed.
