President John Dramani Mahama has officially brought to a close three days of national mourning in honour of the victims of the recent Ghana Air Force helicopter crash.
The solemn conclusion took place at the Evening of Reflections and Memorial held at the State House, where government officials, dignitaries, families of the deceased, and members of the public gathered to pay their final respects.
During the ceremony, tributes poured in for the fallen heroes, including late Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and other officials who lost their lives in the tragic incident. The event featured a moving roll call of the victims, a moment of silence, and the playing of the Ghana National Anthem.
President Mahama, in his address, praised the dedication and sacrifice of the victims, describing them as “patriots who gave their all in service to the nation.” He urged Ghanaians to honour their memory by fostering unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
The three-day mourning period, which began earlier in the week, saw flags flown at half-mast nationwide, with several remembrance activities organized across the country.
The Evening of Reflections and Memorial served as a tribute to honour and celebrate the lives lost.
