The Ghana Education Service (GES) has refuted claims that Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated following his 2021 dismissal.
Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, described social media reports suggesting reinstatement as “false.”
In a statement, GES clarified, “The report is false. Mr Owusu Afriyie has not been reinstated.” The Service advised that if Teacher Kwadwo believes his dismissal was unjust, he may submit a formal written petition for review.
Teacher Kwadwo, a comedian and trained teacher, was dismissed in December 2021 for professional misconduct after gaining popularity for using comedy and digital content to highlight education sector challenges.
