The Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) is bringing back its annual literary festival, Gawbofest, after a break last year.
The 2025 edition promises to be bigger and better, celebrating Ghana’s literary arts with exciting activities, discussions, and workshops.
Gawbofest is a platform for writers, publishers, and other players in the literary space to meet, share ideas, explore business opportunities, and promote Ghanaian literature both locally and internationally. It also honours Ghanaian literary legends and highlights the contribution of the arts to national development.
This year’s event is in partnership with the Creative Arts Agency of Ghana, and runs from September 19 to 20, 2025, at the Accra Centre for National Culture (Arts Centre).
The festival will open with a panel discussion on the theme: “The Book Industry; a Fulcrum for National Development.” Panelists include the Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company, Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Executive Director of CopyGhana, and a representative from UNESCO Ghana. The opening will end with the announcement of the Literary Legend of Focus for the Year.
