The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has entered a new chapter of leadership following the official swearing-in of Festus Owusu Badu, a lawyer as the acting Chairman of the church’s General Council.
He took the oath of office on Sunday, September 28, tasked with carrying forward the spiritual and administrative legacy of the church’s revered founder, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, who passed away on September 11.
His appointment underscores the church’s commitment to ensuring continuity and preserving its foundational mission, even in the wake of the founder’s passing. Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission believe the transition will safeguard the vision that has guided the movement for decades.
Founded on February 3, 1971, and originally emerging from a small prayer group in 1969, the Kristo Asafo Mission has grown into a unique faith-based movement that blends Christian ministry with community development, technology, agriculture, and industrial innovation.
The church is widely recognised for its contribution to Ghana’s socio-economic growth through initiatives in manufacturing, education, and inventive engineering, including the pioneering works of the late Apostle Safo Kantanka.
As acting Chairman, Lawyer Owusu Badu is expected to provide direction for both the church’s spiritual mission and its practical engagements with national development, continuing Apostle Safo’s legacy of faith, innovation, and service to humanity.
