Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has offered Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie a plot of land in Kumasi to build his family home, cementing the artiste’s connection to his Ashanti roots.
Sarkodie revealed the gesture during an interview on Kessben TV, recalling a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace ahead of his Rapperholic Homecoming concert.
According to him , the King asked him whether he owned a house in Kumasi, to which Sarkodie responded, “No, Nana.” Otumfuo then directed his elders to secure land for him to build on.
The rapper, born Michael Owusu Addo, described the moment as deeply touching. “Otumfuo sees you as family. This isn’t just land; it’s a bridge back to home,” he said.
The revelation adds meaning to Sarkodie’s September 27 Rapperholic concert at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which drew more than 15,000 fans despite heavy rains. The show, considered one of his most memorable, featured performances from Shatta Wale, Efya, Medikal, and Obrafour and others .
