The GTCO Music Concert 2025 was easily one of the most talked-about music events of the year. Held at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 19, the free concert drew a massive crowd, proving once again that GT Bank Ghana knows how to pull people together with music. But while the lineup was top-tier, the overall experience was a mix of excitement, exhaustion and missed opportunities.
From early evening, the stadium had a promising feel. By around 8:00 pm, security was firm, the setup looked solid and fans were steadily filling the stands. The VIP area stood out, with guests enjoying food, drinks and desserts from several vendors while a DJ warmed up the atmosphere. At that point, expectations were high.
As the night went on, however, momentum slowed. Performances started much later than expected, and by midnight many fans were visibly tired. The long wait, coupled with limited updates from organisers, caused frustration both inside the stadium and online. What should have been a smooth flow of performances turned into hours of standing, sitting and waiting.
Things finally picked up when MC Kojo Manuel and DJ Vyrusky took charge around midnight, injecting fresh energy into the crowd. From there, the concert found its rhythm. Nigeria’s Patoranking delivered a lively performance backed by a live band and DWP Academy dancers, setting the tone for what the night should have been from the start.
King Promise followed with a confident set, reminding fans why he is Ghana’s reigning Artiste of the Year, though sound issues slightly affected his performance. Joeboy and Fireboy DML kept the energy high with crowd-pleasing hits, while the legendary Ghanaian rap duo, R2Bees proved their staying power with a solid showing.

The final stretch of the concert was packed with anticipation. Ayra Starr thrilled fans with her vocals and stage presence, despite minor sound challenges. Sarkodie delivered as expected, earning loud reactions from the crowd. Another DJ break followed, building suspense over who would appear next between Burna Boy and Shatta Wale.

Burna Boy’s entrance sparked one of the loudest reactions of the night. He gave fans hit after hit, delivering a performance many had waited hours for. However, a viral moment where he rewarded a fan who rushed the stage with cash sparked criticism online, with concerns about safety and crowd control.
Shatta Wale eventually closed the show in the early hours, a decision that drew mixed reactions. While his fans were excited, many felt the late timing was unnecessary. Shatta Wale himself later criticised the scheduling, stating it wasted fans’ time.

Beyond timing issues, there were moments of tension in the crowd, including restlessness, objects being thrown and brief clashes with security. Though no serious injuries were reported, these moments highlighted the challenges of managing such a massive free event.
In the end, the GTCO Music Concert 2025 delivered unforgettable performances but struggled with execution. The talent was world-class, the turnout was impressive, and the atmosphere. once it kicked in, was electric. Still, long delays, sound issues and crowd management concerns prevented it from being as seamless as it could have been.
As a concert experience, GTCO Music Concert 2025 felt powerful but imperfect — a night that proved the strength of Ghana’s live music culture, while also reminding organisers that timing and structure matter just as much as star power.
