Rapper and singer Medikal has sent a message to the board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards following the announcement of nominees for the 27th edition, particularly the highly competitive Artiste of the Year category.
The award-winning artiste, known privately as Samuel Adu Frimpong, delivered the message during his performance at the Kumawu Papa Nantwie Festival concert in the Ashanti Region in the early hours of Sunday, March 15.
Addressing the crowd during his set, Medikal disclosed that he has secured nominations in several categories in the upcoming awards, including the prestigious Artiste of the Year. According to him, his output and impact during the year under review place him ahead of the other nominees in the category.
The rapper, therefore, urged fans to help him send a message to the awards board, stressing that there should be “No Libilibi No Labalaba”—a phrase he used to emphasise that there must be no favouritism in determining the winner.
“You know they have nominated me for TGMA awards, including the Artiste of the Year. And we all know last year I worked more than everybody in that category. So tell them that ‘No Libilibi No Labalaba’ for the Artiste of the Year award. I outperformed every artiste the whole of last year,” he told the crowd while performing on stage.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards on Saturday, March 14, announced nominees across the various categories for this year’s edition.
Public voting has since opened, with fans rallying support for their favourite artistes and songs ahead of the main awards ceremony scheduled for May 9, 2026.
