Actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has expressed frustration over what she describes as bloggers’ selective attention to her activities.
The moment occurred when she arrived at the 60th birthday celebration of business mogul Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, held on Tuesday, May 5, at the Despite Museum in Accra.
As bloggers gathered around filming her entry, McBrown reacted on the spot, addressing them directly.
According to her, bloggers often overlook the effort she puts into her professional work, including brand endorsements and business ventures, but are quick to film and share videos of her at social events.
“When we are on grounds working, you bloggers don’t see that to post, but when we dress to go out for functions, you come out with your phones to video us without giving us breathing space.”
McBrown highlighted her recent involvement in several brand activations, including promotions for detergents, appliances, and her own sunflower product, stressing that such content rarely receives the same level of attention online.
“Don’t you see that we work? Lately, I have been out doing a lot of activations… When you see my videos on social media, you don’t repost for me to think that you think about me,” she added.
She further pointed out that while bloggers may not always have access to certain workplaces, they still have opportunities to support and amplify field activities and campaigns she participates in.
Her remarks highlight ongoing concerns among public figures about how their work is represented online, especially the imbalance between coverage of their professional efforts and their public appearances.
