Media personality Kafui Dey has admitted that he is not optimistic about Ghana’s future, saying his hope lies in a new generation of leaders.
Speaking to Bill Cobbinah on the Peswa Podcast, Kafui was asked whether years of interviewing politicians had made him hopeful about Ghana.
“Am I hopeful? No. Unless the Gen Zs come to power,” he said, adding that he admires the younger generation’s mindset and openness.
Kafui also said he does not miss interviewing politicians after leaving GTV because many often defend party positions publicly while expressing different opinions off-camera.
“They are going to defend their party on air, and then when the camera goes off, they say, ‘Actually, this is what I really feel, but I can’t say it on air,” he said.
He further questioned Ghana’s two-term presidential system, arguing that the pressure of seeking re-election can affect governance.
According to him, a single five- or six-year presidential term could allow leaders to focus more on their legacy and performance.
“The two-term thing, I don’t think it works for us here,” he added.
