Ghana’s impressive performance against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, June 23, sparked excitement across the entertainment industry, with musicians, actors, media personalities, filmmakers and content creators taking to social media to celebrate the Black Stars’ spirited display.

The Black Stars held tournament favourites England to a hard-fought goalless draw in their second Group L match in Boston, producing a disciplined defensive performance that earned the team a valuable point and widespread admiration from fans and celebrities alike.

The praise extended beyond Ghana’s borders, as several Nigerian celebrities, often affectionately described as Ghana’s “distant cousins,” also joined in applauding the team’s resilience against one of the competition’s strongest sides.

One player who attracted overwhelming praise was goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

The shot-stopper, known to be a proud supporter of the Shatta Movement, delivered a man-of-the-match performance, making a series of crucial saves to preserve Ghana’s clean sheet and secure the draw.

Among the celebrities who reacted was music duo DopeNation, who called on Ghanaians to show greater patience and support for the national team.

“Sometimes erhn, we for relax for the Ghana Black Stars. That game against Panama had social media flooding with comments like ‘we didn’t play well’, yet we scored one and won. Now we just had a draw with England and the review be ‘the boys played well’. Football be different chale,” the duo wrote.

Media personality Cookie Tee also expressed confidence in the team’s prospects, suggesting the Black Stars are capable of competing with any side at the tournament.

“Bring on Spain in the Round of 32, the Black Stars are ready to serve some Ghanaian pepper.”

The wave of praise came from across the creative industry, with musicians including Kojo Cue, DopeNation, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Mr Eazi, Adina, Fuse ODG, Cina Soul, Kwesi Arthur, Wendy Shay and Lasmid commending the team’s determination, organisation and defensive discipline.
