Afrobeats superstar Davido has urged young people with big ambitions not to lose sight of God after achieving success, warning that fame often comes with distractions.
Speaking in a recent interview with Kiss Xtra, the award-winning singer addressed the growing trend of celebrities, particularly Christians, who stop attending church after becoming famous.
Davido said the first step to success is believing in oneself and remaining committed to developing one’s talent.
Reflecting on his early journey, the singer revealed that he honed his musical skills by learning from YouTube and drawing inspiration from the people around him.
He stressed that his passion for music and determination to keep improving played a vital role in his rise to stardom.
“My advice for young boys with big dreams is, first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me.”
The singer added that while hard work is essential, maintaining a close relationship with God is equally important, especially after achieving success.
According to Davido, the entertainment industry is filled with distractions that can cause people to forget the source of their blessings.
“Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it, because there are so many distractions that can make you forget He is the reason you are here.”
