Nigerian music star Davido has called on the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the upcoming election in Osun State, Nigeria, amid concerns over possible violence and disruption of the democratic process.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday, August 11, Davido appealed to President Trump to take note of developments in the state as residents prepare to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election,” he wrote.

According to the award-winning musician, there are growing concerns about tension in the state, with the possibility of violence, intimidation and other actions that could undermine the electoral process.
He stressed that the people of Osun State deserve the opportunity to vote freely, peacefully and without fear.
Davido further urged the United States and the international community to monitor the election and encourage relevant authorities to take steps to protect voters and ensure that every vote is respected.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he stated.
