Celebrated record engineer, Emmanuel Mallet known in music circles as Zapp Mallet has said that he almost lost his life as a result of a ruptured blood vessel in his head.
Speaking on Citi TV’s lifestyle variety show, Upside Down, the veteran Ghanaian record producer told hosts Ato Kwamina and Frema Adunyame that he would have died but for God’s intervention.
“I have not been too well lately, people don’t know this secret. I had a problem; I can’t even say it. I had a vessel burst in my head; I should have died,” he said.
“Two years ago. I should have died. The doctors couldn’t even believe it. A vessel got burst in my head and healed. That was around Danny Nertey’s funeral. I was walking around and didn’t know this thing had happened” he added.
He further stated that he got to know about the situation when he visited the hospital.
“It was when I went to the hospital and they did a scan that was when they realized that this had happened and it had healed by itself,” Zapp noted.
Zapp mallet is recognized as one of the pioneers of the hiplife genre that started in the early 1990s in Ghana.
He is also the only recording engineer to have won the Ghana Music Awards on three consecutive occasions i.e 1999, 2000 and 2001 respectively.
