Highlife musician turned pastor, Nana Agyeman popularly known as Geeman has sent out a piece of advice to Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale who were recently locked in a duel at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Stonebwoy pulled a gun because Shatta Wale and his team had joined him on stage when he was already on stage to receive the Dancehall Artiste of the Year award.
In a live Facebook video, the ‘Highlife in G Major’ hit maker who was once taken to jail for shooting a taxi driver, shared his story and the lessons he learnt from it.
Having spent 14 years in prison, he told the two artistes that it is only God that protects human being and not guns.
“Guns do not protect you, guns are weapons of destruction and not protection. The Bible says that if the Lord does not watch over the city, the watchmen watch in vain,” he said.
He added that the dancehall artistes should not be deceived by the huge number of following they have because when the law gets them and they go to jail, none of their fans will follow them.
He recounted how as a young musicians he got a gun to scare people just to have mistakenly shot a taxi driver.
On January 9, 1995, Geeman, now known as G’Love Gemann, shot and killed a taxi driver at Dome in a scuffle over 2,000 cedis. This is 20 pesewas in today’s currency.
He was tried and convicted of murder. He spent 14 years in prison half of which was on death row. He was released on January 9, 2009 on presidential pardon from former President, John Agyekum Kufuor.
