Copies of a writ of summons chanced on by ghanaweekend.com show that Ghanaian artiste Nana Kwaku Duah, known in showbiz as TiC, and Nigerian musician Tony Tetuila have sued Wizkid for using a portion of their song ‘Fefe Na Efe’ without their consent.
Recently TiC expressed his displeasure about Wizkid sampling the chorus of his ‘Fefe Ne Efe’ song in his verse on DJ Tunez’s song titled ‘Gbese’, without seeking permission.
Tic told Andy Dosty on Hitz FM that he was speaking to his lawyers to take legal action against Wizkid if the singer fails to pay for sampling his song.
‘As a matter of fact, the lawyers are working on it. There have been some discussions. We are on it.’, he revealed.
The ‘Philomena’ artiste also disclosed that Wizkid’s team had proposed a settlement fee but he felt the amount they mentioned was not enough.
‘If they don’t pay of course I will sue them. There has been a lot of discussions going on….some figures mentioned but, there are some things going on’, he added.
But some writs of summons sighted by ghanaweekend.com suggest that the legal process may have started already in August 2019.

TiC and Tony Tetuila (who featured on the song) are jointly seeking damages worth millions of naira 35% of revenues accrued from ‘Gbese’.
TiC released his ‘Fefe Ne Efe’ tune featuring Tony Tetuila in 2004.
Wizkid also featured on DJ Tunez’s ‘Gbese’ together Blaqjerzee in May 2019.
TiC, an Executive Member of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) is one of the few Ghanaian artistes who are very protective of the copyright.
In November 2017, the Accra High Court directed Melcom to pay him an amount of Three Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢ 300,000.00) for using the rapper’s image on their billboards when their contract had expired.
