Highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena has disclosed that his contract with Loggy Entertainment was not documented.
According to the ‘Tuamudaa’ singer, the deal which was supposed to have lasted for two years ended abruptly.
Speaking to Andy Dosty on Hitz FM this morning (31st January, 2020), he said the he gave the label the benefit of the doubt because of the credibility they have built, adding that “we know that they have being around the likes of Obrafuor, we now they’ve been around that likes of Okyeame Kwame and the rest so that’s the benefit of the doubt we gave them. Because being around such brands, we were thinking they knew that right things to be done”.
“Ghanaians as we are, sometimes you give people the benefit of a doubt when they say certain things especially verbally and you give them the nod and the rest of the team actually looking at how enthusiastic the person is sometimes we give them the benefit of the doubt.
“But with this thing I feel that we also didn’t do our due diligence as far as that label is concerned so we were actually taken by surprise a bit because we had not even penned down things in terms of agreement and all of that before we allowed them to actually touch our first product which is Tokro”
“There was no contract ever,” he reiterated.
Explaining what really happened, he said his single was ready to go on the market when the label came in so the team agreed to go ahead and let the song out and then sign the necessary documents later.
Loggy Entertainment sponsored the shoot of the music video but after two months, the label was much more interested in negotiating on shows the artiste was going to play even when the contract was yet to be signed.
“..matter of fact, we were ready with the ‘Tokro’ single and then they came in so we all agreed to actually let it go so that we can do the proper documentation after we launch ‘Tokro’ and all of that but after we launched ‘Tokro’, we realized that the management actually is not forthcoming with the agreement and everything we have to sign and their commitment and everything they have to do per what we have to do to continue for the two years we promised to be with them.
“After about two months, we realized that they’re not forthcoming, they’re not giving us our signing dues…so we realized that they only wanted to ride on our beautiful song and have their own agenda, I don’t know.
“So, we actually stepped back because in the first place there’s no signature pen to anything. We’ve not signed anything yet so we just backed up” he explained.
Loggy Entertainment was reported to have signed a two-year recording deal with Kwabena Kwabena in November 2018.
He was outdoored at Swiss Spirit Hotel where the CEO, Prince Nana Boakye stated that he was not willing to sign any artiste after the death of Daasebre Dwamena because he faced some challenges but was excited about signing Kwabena Kwabena.
He added that the contract would involve tours and other things.
