Actress Joselyn Dumas has complained about the attitude of Ghanaians toward watching Ghanian movies at the cinema.
According to her, unlike Ghanaians, Nigerians support their movie industry and would be at the cinemas in their numbers to watch whether or not they are nice.
However, Ghanaians will choose foreign movies over the locally-produced ones.
Due to this, she has directed a question to critics who complain about the industry not producing movies- “If we did, would you watch ?” she quizzed.
The actress who starred in ‘Potato Potatho’now showing on Netflix, took to Twitter to say: “It’s sad how Ghanaians troop to cinemas to watch foreign movies. Meanwhile, Nigerians would troop to watch their own movies whether nice or not, it’s the deep innate need to support their own. I laugh when you guys say we’re not producing enough movies. If we did, would you watch?”
A tweep replied saying it is erroneous to just support a cause whether good or not in the name of supporting one’s own.
To this, the actress replied: “They support whether nice or not, this goes a long way to encourage them to do better and improve on their craft.”
Joselyn has starred in movies including ‘Northern Affair’, ‘Love or Something Like That’, ‘A Sting In A Tale’, ‘Cold Feet’ and many others.
