Veteran highlife artiste, Ben Brako has issued a statement with regards to Gyedu Blay-Ambolley’s allegation that former MUSIGA President Bice Obour Osei Kuffour gave him GHS 50,000 from the 2012 Government’s budgetary allocation.
Gyedu Blay in a recent interview on 3FM which was shared with TV3 Instagram account alleged that the former president of Musician Union of Ghana (Musiga) Bice Osei Kufuor, popularly known as Obour shared the union’s GHC 2M funds among his pal musicians and that he had evidence to back the said activity.
Ambolley also mentioned TiC, Bessa Simon and Okyeame Kwame as beneficiaries of the money.
A few days ago, Okyeame Kwame through his lawyers gave Gyedu Blay-Ambolley a 72-hour ultimatum to retract a defamatory comment he made and apologize or face the law.

In the meantime, read the full statement Ben Brako shared with Ghana Weekend, below.
I WISH TO STATE CATEGORICALLY AND EMPHATICALLY THAT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY MONIES FROM OBUOR EVER. THIS IS IRRESPECTIVE OF THE SOURCE OF THE MONEY, PERSONAL, FROM UNION FUNDS OR OTHER SOURCES. THIS IS A COMPLETE SLANDER AND DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER.
Before going any further I need to say that I have always regarded Gyedu Blay Ambolley as a fine musician, and one of the kings of highlife. I have known him since I was a teenager playing music with my school band, The Famous Flames when we played together with Ambolley and band in Kumasi as far back as 1969.
It is one thing to be a master of your craft, but it is another thing creating a false equivalence that therefore you are a master of all other aspects of life. Ambolley is well respected in all circles in Ghana and outside, but in this case, he has behaved despicably by publically accusing some of his fellow musicians, and specifically, me, without a shred of evidence, as there is absolutely no truth to his assertion that Obuor gave me 50,000 Ghana cedis from Musigha funds. Before making such a serious allegation, a man of substance has to verify his facts and evidence. It is very easy to throw dirt at people and ruin their hard-earned reputation needlessly and without any basis. Mud sticks and even an apology after the fact cannot truly erase the doubt created in the mind of the public.
I am hereby throwing the gauntlet to Gyedu Blay Ambolley to substantiate his claim about me or to issue an unreserved public apology, otherwise, I reserve the right to sue him and label him a fool. Only a fool and idiot will make such a serious allegation without evidence. The music industry in Ghana is in enough trouble without some of the senior musicians displaying their ignorance, immaturity and idiocy in the glare of the public.
