How many of you thought Zapp Mallet’s tweet on ‘disrespect for the elderly’ was a reply to Sarkodie’s earlier tweet on #BehindTheHitz?
Are you lost? Well, let me fill you in.
Sarkodie replicated the ‘producer wars’ which started in the US for Ghanaian music producers a few days ago and in one of his tweets he entreated Zapp Mallet, Killbeatz, Appietus, Jay Q and the like to take part in it.
After that, there has been a lot of social media talk, with some doing their parings for the producers.
Jay Q and Appietus were the first pair to have battled it out in the challenge which offers the producers the platform to play to their fans hit songs they have produced.

But taking to Twitter, Zapp registered his displeasure about being mixed with the ‘latter-day’ music producers.
“There is something called respect which is lacking in Ghana today. For instance, you don’t compare somebody who was churning out hits before you made Kindergarten with your mate who just started a couple of years back. Show some respect. You will also get there,” he tweeted a few days ago.
In an exclusive interview with Ghana Weekend, however, he said his tweet was a general one meant to instill some discipline and sanity in the music industry.
He noted that it was not directed to anybody.
In the meantime, Appietus has also put up a tweet making allusions to the fact that there was nothing disrespectful about lumping old producers up with new ones for a mere fun-filled activity.
