Ghanaian gospel artiste Sonnie Badu has not taken kindly to Melinda Gates’ comment about Africa and how the pandemic is affecting the world.
He reminded her “You are not God. You are only human just like us” and so should “not overstep your boundaries”.
This comment comes after the wife of Bill Gates, Melinda Gates during an interview on CNN she talked about she nad her husband sponsoring eight different vaccines hoping either of them would be viable against the coronavirus.
In the same interview, however, she talked about the disease taking the world by surprise since there was no preparation but specifically touching on Africa, she noted that the effect of the pandemic would be more serious as compared to America and the other well to do countries.
“When I saw what China had to do to isolate such an enormous part of their population, my first thought was Africa. How in the world are they going to deal with this? I’ve been in townships all over Africa and slums when we talk about in our country physical distancing and then hand washing when you live in a slum, you can’t physical distance. You have to go out and get your meals. You don’t have clean water to wash your hands,” the philanthropist said.
“It is going to be horrible in the developing world and part of the reason why you are seeing the case numbers don’t look very bad is that they don’t have access to very many tests” the American philanthropist stated.
Referring to reports of dead bodies on the streets in Ecuador Melinda said “Look at Ecuador. Look at what’s going on in Ecuador. They’re putting bodies out on the street. You’re going to see that in countries in Africa.”
Her comment sparked angry reactions and all kinds of conversations on social media.
Joining in to react is Sonnie Badu who posted portions of Melinda’s comment on Instagram and captioned the post: “You are not God … You are only human, Just like us. Do not overstep your boundaries, don’t worry your time will be up soon … Africa will surprise the world, that is why for the first time we are ahead of you all … Madam, keep quite… my name is BADU”.
