Renowned poet, Nana Asaase, has suggested that future refurbishment works on the National Theatre could be executed gradually and in phases to ensure that the facility stays in business and open to host events.
According to Nana Asaase, a total closure of the facility will deprive it of revenue it generates from hosting public events and other special programmes.
He however added there will be no excuse to keep the place open if expert assessment of the facility recommends that the place be shut down for a major facelift.
The National Theatre, which was constructed between 1990 and 1992, has been in the news recently after managers of the facility launched a GoFundMe project to appeal for funds to repair its broken-down air conditioners.
A recent report by Citi TV revealed that the nation’s premier event centre is in a bad shape, with rusty pillars and broken down air-conditioners.
