Kumawood actress, Maame Fante aka’Agaga’ has reiterated Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Dampare’s caution to religious leaders to be mindful of statements they make in the name of prophecies.
According to the Maame Fante, she has sent numerous messages to prophets and prophetess across the country, reminding them about the IGP’s warning.
“I have read it and have started posting to them that something is on the mountain. Don’t joke with it. Don’t change your bedroom because of prophecy.”
In recent year’s, 31 December watch night services have been characterized by prophetic declarations, often predicting the death of public figures.

The Ghana Police Administration in a statement has cautioned religious groups and leaders to be measured in their utterances, especially how they communicate prophecies, which may injure the right of others and the public interest.
“As the year 2021 draws to a close, the Ghana Police Service wishes to draw the attention of Ghanaians, especially religious groups, to the fact that whereas we have the right to religion, freedom of worship and free speech, all of these rights are subject to the respect for the rights and freedoms of others according to our laws.”
“We therefore wish to caution all Ghanaians, especially religious groups and leaders, to be measured in their utterances, especially how they communicate prophecies, which may injure the right of others and the public interest.”
The statement, signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Supt. Alexander Kwaku Obeng also notes that persons found culpable will face up to five years of imprisonment under the law.
