Kenyan authorities have banned Blakk Rasta’s song “Museveni” from being played on radio following the visit of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to Kenya.
The 77-year-old President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni travelled to Kenya to sign the East African Community (EAC) Treaty of Accession on April 8, 2022.
The main focus of the event was the signing of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Treaty of Accession to the East African Community.
Some political analysts and journalists have accused President Museveni of being dictatorial in his 35-year rule.
Vybez Radio, Kenya’s largest roots radio station, played the song during the airport welcoming ceremony, which was themed on President Museveni’s totalitarian rule.
The station’s management removed the song from its playlist and permanently banned it on the directive of the Kenyan authorities.
The song, “Bloody Museveni” a collaboration between Blakk Rasta and Museveni’s rival, Bobi Wine, was released in 2021.
Previously, Blakk Rasta’s ‘Thief President,’ which was reviewed on Ceaze and Sikkle on Vybez Radio around a month ago, was subjected to a cyber-attack and had to be taken down from YouTube.
Blakk Rasta’s songs have received little airing on Ghanaian television and radio stations, owing to the fact that most of them find his lyrics politically offensive.
