The Acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons wishes the union fixes its communication lapses in no time.
According to the ‘Belembe’ singer, one of the challenges of the union is the lack of an effective communications team.
He told Kwame Dadzie in an interview on Ghana Weekend TV that they need “a spokesperson, a communications team to put the right things out.”

Asked if Daddy Ahumah Ocansey Bosco, the director in charge of Projects and Communications for the union is not doing his job, he said “in the past few years there have been a lot of bad press that have affected the union” and that having a more effective team for communication would have done them some good.
The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is one of the most criticized arts-based associations in the country.
A lot of musicians have cited various reasons they want things to change in the union.
A few months ago, dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has suggested that the government teams up with private bodies to take over the reins of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
Others have suggested, that the union needs to change its constitution, so other people can contest for the Presidency. At the moment, their constitution demands that only people who have held MUSIGA Executive positions before can run for President.
In the meantime, after about four postponements, Bessa Simons has assured that the union is now ready to go for its elections.
According to him, the National Election Committee will meet on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 to fix a date for the elections.
Bessa Simons, Deborah Freeman and Ras Caleb-Appiah are running for the President position of the union.
