Ghanaian musician, Rocky Dawuni, has shared his thoughts on the ongoing conversation over intellectual theft involving singer Kirani Ayat and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
According to Rocky Dawuni, the young singer has every right to protest for not being approached before his work was used by the government organisation.
“He has a legitimate complaint,” Rocky Dawuni said during an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM.
“The thing is that he needed to get somebody’s attention on the whole thing. They should sit down and then figure this out – figure the right way to deal with this. They should stop the accusations – ‘you should have done this, you should have done that.’ It should be about fairness,” he said.
Rocky Dawuni, who is currently on a media tour for the promotion of his new single, Never Bow Down added that “We should protect the copyright of Ghanaian artists — and it starts with both the artists and the government institutions setting the example.”
