Members of the Ghana Drunkards Association are not happy with recent price increments of alcoholic products in Ghana, and are therefore threatening to permanently stop the purchase of alcoholic products if government does not intervene.
According to them, recent increments of prices is affecting their rate of consumption of their favourite drinks, a situation, they find worrying.
They say the price for a shot of local gin, akpeteshie, has increased from 50 pesewas to 2 cedis on this year alone.
They want authorities to work to restore the value of the Ghana Cedi which has seen unprecedented depreciation this year only and is currently tradding for GHS13 for 1 dollar.
Mr Moses Onyah (Dry Bone) who led the group to speak in an interview with Kasapa FM, added that many businesses risk collapse if members of his association decide to boycott alcohol.
