Apple Music today announced that Ghanaian singer-songwriter Darkua is the latest artist to be featured in its Up Next artist development program. The program is designed to help emerging artists reach a wider audience and build their careers.
Darkua is a rising star in the Ghanaian music scene. Her music is a blend of Afrobeats, soul, and R&B. She has released four singles, including “Amalelor” and “Echo.” Her music has been praised for its empowering lyrics and catchy melodies.
“Being selected as Apple Music’s Up Next for Ghana feels like a dream! It almost felt impossible at a point,” said Darkua. “Knowing how it all started for me, this is a huge step in my career as an Afrofusion artist.

With my recently released single, ECHO, I’m hoping to empower as many women as possible about being confident in their sexual lives, and also to let them know that, it is possible to take charge of, and go for whatever they want.”
As part of the Up Next program, Darkua will be featured on Apple Music’s Ghana Up Next playlist. She will also receive support from Apple Music’s marketing team to help her reach a wider audience.
“We are excited to welcome Darkua to the Up Next family,” said Apple Music’s global head of artist relations, Carl Chery. “She is a talented artist with a bright future ahead of her. We look forward to helping her share her music with the world.”

Darkua is the latest in a long line of talented artists to be featured in the Up Next program. Past participants include Grammy-nominated artists like Burna Boy, Tems, and Billie Eilish. The program has helped to launch the careers of many of today’s biggest stars.

With her unique sound and empowering lyrics, Darkua is poised to be the next big star to emerge from the Up Next program.
