Music superstar, business visionary, and international nomad Mr Eazi has announced the release of his long-awaited, decade-in-the-making debut solo album.

The 16-track album, which is now available for pre-order, will be released on October 27, 2023.

The album, which is currently untitled, features production from a wide range of African and international artists, including Andre Vibez, Killbeatz, Kel-P, Knucks, Michael Brun, M.O.G Beatz, E Kelly, Type A, Stikmatik, Yung Willis, Nonso Amadi, Phantom, Beat Butcha, Venna, KDream, and Mr Eazi himself.

The album’s lead single, “Chop Time, No Friend,” was released on July 19, 2023.

The track, which is a playful return to the Banku Music sound that Mr Eazi pioneered, was produced by Andre Vibez and Killbeatz. The music video for the track was directed by Allison Swank Owen and was shot in Dakar, Senegal.

“Chop Time, No Friend” is a celebration of Mr Eazi’s success and his refusal to let haters distract him from his goals.

The track’s lyrics are a declaration of self-confidence and a celebration of the iconic Nigerian musician’s ability to turn anything he touches into gold.

In addition to “Chop Time, No Friend,” the album is also expected to feature collaborations with a number of other artists, including Beyoncé, J Balvin, and Joeboy.

Mr Eazi is a Nigerian multi-hyphenate who is best known for his afropop hits “Pour Me Water,” “Skin Tight,” and “Leg Over.” He is also the creator of Banku Music, a fusion of Ghanaian and Nigerian sounds and culture.

A serial entrepreneur, Mr Eazi founded emPawa Africa in 2018 as a talent incubator program designed to accelerate the careers of African artists.

Hailed by CNN, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Forbes for its innovative approach to expanding African music’s global reach, emPawa Africa has since grown into one of Africa’s largest independent music companies.

He has clocked over 4 billion streams of his songs across DSPs, making him one of the most streamed African artists worldwide. The release of Mr Eazi’s debut solo album is a major moment for African music.

The album is definitely going to be a global success and will further cement Mr Eazi’s status as one of the most important artists on the continent.
