Guinness World Records has confirmed that a certificate circulating online, claiming Ghanaian chef Chef Smith as the new record holder for the longest individual cooking marathon, is fake.

On July 2nd, Chef Smith announced himself as the record holder at a press conference in Accra. He displayed a certificate indicating a cook-a-thon duration of 802 hours and 25 minutes, supposedly between February 1st and March 6th, 2024.

Responding to a journalist’s inquiry, Madalyn Bielfield, PR Manager for Guinness World Records, clarified that the current record belongs to Alan Fisher from Ireland.

“No, this is not true at all,” Bielfield stated. “He does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate.”

However, Guinness World Records has officially debunked this claim.

Meanwhile, Information reaching GhanaWeekend indicates that Chef Ebenezer Smith has been arrested over alleged fraud.

According to the report, Chef Smith was arrested by popular Hiplife artiste Nana Boroo after his press conference to announce his fake cook-a-thon record.

It is alleged that Chef Smith owed the ‘Aha Ye d3’ crooner an undisclosed amount of money after the chef breached a contract.
