‘Alian’ Chef Smith used our logo without permission – Chefs’ Association

It has come to light that disgraced Chef, Ebenezer Smith ( alias Millennium Chef) is not a member of the Chefs’ Association of Ghana even though he used the association’s logo during his so-called attempt at setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest time spent cooking by an individual – cook-a-thon.

During the cook-a-thon, Mr Smith was seen in a jacket with the official logo of the association embossed on it, demonstrating that he was a member of the association and had its backing in his attempt to bring glory and honour to the association and Ghana as a whole.

But the Chefs’ Association speaking through its National Secretary, Peter Agbovi, noted that Mr Smith has never been a member of the association and even when he appropriated the logo and was contacted to do the needful by registering with the association, he couldn’t be bothered.

“During his cookathon attempt, we[ The Chefs Association of Ghana] took notice of the fact that he was wearing a jacket that had our logo imprinted on it. So we contacted him to officially inform him that if he wants to go with our logo, then he should do the needful by registering with the Chefs’ Association of Ghana… During the cook-a-thon, he never shared his videos on our social media platforms because he is not an official member; he didn’t register during the time we contacted him. After the cook-a-thon, we didn’t hear from him again until yesterday when we saw the press conference,” Mr Peter Agbovi said in an interview with GHOne TV.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Chef Smith announced that he had set a new Guinness World Record for the individual cook-a-thon.

Various news sources, including very reputable websites, reported the news to the delight of many Ghanaians. But while he was being widely celebrated, it soon became apparent that he had lied about the feat.

Officials at the Guinness World Records, who had been contacted to confirm the news, stated categorically that Chief did not even apply let alone set a record.

The Chef has since come under intense criticism for taking Ghanaians for a ride.
