Veteran musician Mzbel has partnered with Icetee Records to introduce their latest signee, Kweku Shai, in a culturally significant ceremony that emphasised commitment and accountability.
The unveiling, which featured a traditional oath-taking ritual involving schnapps and eggs, symbolised a sacred pledge between the artist and the label.
Dressed in regal Ga attire, Mzbel and executives of Icetee Records swore an oath to honour the terms of their agreement.
Speaking on the importance of this ritual, Mzbel highlighted the need for dedication in the music industry, especially in an era where loyalty is often compromised.
“We are making this pledge before the gods to ensure that everyone upholds their end of the deal. As investors, we expect equal effort, creativity, and time in return to build a solid brand,” she explained.
Mzbel’s decision to incorporate this tradition stems from past experiences where artistes she supported later distanced themselves. The oath-taking, therefore, serves as a symbolic measure to reinforce trust and accountability.
Following the ceremony, Kweku Shai officially signed his contract with Icetee Records, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a promising musical journey.
