Ghanaian Afrobeats singer Olivetheboy has shared that his parents initially opposed his decision to pursue a career in music and went as far as wanting him arrested over his plans to release his debut song.
He disclosed this during an appearance on the Delay Show.
According to the singer, his mother, a teacher, and his father, a pastor, disapproved of his ambitions, with his father particularly concerned about the implications for a pastor’s child.
Olivetheboy explained that he eventually won over his mother, who then played a key role in persuading his father to accept his career choice.
